Blink Twice August 26, 2024

Image
Blink Twice was a good example of what looks pleasant, turning out to be evil. It may seem good to make you forget your troubles, only to be in danger. Though I will not spoil the movie, I will say it was unique seeing a villain not die but forget what he was doing If you are interested in seeing more stories like that by authors trying to get their careers going, including me, click on the link.  Smashwords.com

Alien: Romulus August 19, 2024

I have not seen all the Alien movies, just the first two which are generally consider the best, and Prometheus which people are split on, but I enjoyed for the most part. That said, I thought Alien: Romulus was OK. There were some cool action scenes, and the robot was funny at times. The story, however, was predictable, and like they always do in those movies, was kill off all except two of the likable characters. The end clearly showed they were getting ready to set things up in the classic original, which did not bother me. The action scenes in those movies, gave me ideas for books, and if you are interested in reading them, and the work of other independent authors, click on the link. #Smaswhords.com.

How Westerns influenced me. August 13, 2024

Westerns are my dad's favorite kind of movie, and thus I grew up watching a lot of them. They had more of a grip on my brother, because when we were kids, he always wanted to play adventure games that took place in the western United States between the years 1865 to 1895. Though I liked Westerns, I more often wanted to play games that took place in the present, so I could use vehicles, and he we always argued about it. I tried compromising but he never agreed about anything. I already wrote a little about it, and though that also gave me inspiration for books, I will talk about how the Western genre inspired me.  Westerns are a good genre for visual storytelling and for contrasting characters, and for making the setting be practically a character. They can help you get to know the characters as the story progresses, and have characters discover humanity as they go. A lot of Westerns have music that befits what is happening and songs that often contrast or match the situation....

Borderlands August 12, 2024

I never played a Bordelands game, but I enjoyed the movie. The action scenes were fun, and I'm sure the planet it was on was the same as it was in the game. Jack Black was funny as the robot and made up for what it lacked in high art and original story telling. I see why people did not like it, but I had a good time watching it in the theater like I always do.  I know the best way to make an adapted screenplay succeed is to be faithful to the source material, and I must say there are many artists and writers whose work does get the attention it deserves, and if you are interested in reading their work, you can click on the link.  smashword.com
