The Man With No Name, Clint Eastwood's Best Performance. May 31, 2023

Sorry, about not writing any blogs lately, but our house is almost back together.

In honor of it being Clint Eastwood's ninety-third birthday, I will talk about his best performance. The Searches may be my favorite Western movie, but the Man with No Name trilogy is not far behind it. I have always watched Westerns for the gunfights, but I was always intrigued by the mysterious stranger's actions. There was little dialogue about his background. Some critics have theorized that he was a different character in every movie. Even so, continuity is minimal in those movies. The character would not have been as interesting if he was not up against sadistic villains. The rival gangs in Fistful of Dollars he turned on each other, and the bandit he was after in For a Few Dollars More was a child killing rapist, who killed his gang or let them kill each other so he could slake his greed. Despite the title of the most famous entry in the trilogy, none of the protagonists in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly are good, Clint's character was just the least bad, because after all, he did leave Tuco to die several times, even if he was bad, too. Tuco was worse because refused to convert, although, his brother, a priest would not forgive him. The worst, however, was Angel Eyes, he kills anyone he is told to. I have nothing to say about the most famous moment in the movie, the three-man showdown, but it is evidence that action movies, don't need a lot of dialogue to be effective.   Prior to the Barbie movie, most films based on classic toys were criticized the instant they were announced, but that is not what I am talking about. When I heard that Paramount was planning to make live action G.I. Joe movies, I was excited because they were my favorite childhood toys, and I still collect them as a hobby for sentimental reasons. On the new Snow White movie February 24, 2025

 Practically everything on YouTube is about the disdain the new live-action Snow White movie has, the same way the general public is getting tired of Disney's live action remakes. It is either the A.I. and C.G. on the Dwarves, and what Peter Dinklage said about the Dwarves in the original being incorrect. If not that, it is Rachel Zegler insulting the original, saying it is about a prince stalking a princess, and not understanding the original was about dismissing reality for hope, because it was made during the Great Depression, and it was what people needed to escape the turmoil they were in.  I think the main reason for the backlash it instantly received was the way Disney is trying too hard to over correct what did not age well in their past movies. I think Zegler meant they were trying to update the prince and princess's relationship in the original, and it did not work with how she phrased it.  Flight Risk had a pretty simple premise but was still entertaining. One could quickly catch on that the pilot Mark Wahlberg played was working for the Mafia, in fact it was given away in the trailers. There was more to catch onto, such as the U.S. Marshall being associated with the Mob, but it was still entertaining. The main thing to think about is the Marshall's superiors being allied with criminals, which is something we really need to consider in Washington.
