Thoughts on Star Wars and how it inspired me. May 3, 2023

Because tomorrow is Star Wars Day, I will share my thoughts about it, and how it inspired me. I was a baby when Return of the Jedi first came out and have been a fan ever since. When I got the idea for the Covert Militia, I initially thought about giving them telekinetic power, but that was dropped as the ideas progressed. One of the only things that was retained was the Covert soldier's laser swords. Not a lightsaber, because they are a regular sword, but with a laser rod in the blade that makes them glow and cut through most things.

I tell newcomers to the saga, if they only seen A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, they can stop. I am not criticizing the other trilogies or anthology movies. I did not think the prequels were good but had good things in them. I thought the sequels were good sci-fi/fantasy, action/adventure movies, but not good Star Wars movies. There were a lot of ideas that didn't go anywhere and missed opportunities. Aside from the action, the epic plot between good and evil, intimidating villains, and compelling characters. Last of all, the thing a lot of people make fun of the Ewoks, but I never found them annoying. I see why a lot of people find them irritating. They were like Jar Jar and were just created to sell more action figures and make kids laugh, but at least they contributed to the story, and one of them was killed. I mention that because I am about halfway through my latest novel, The Primal Realm, where the Covert Militia enters a parallel dimension, with primitive societies, and every animal that ever existed on Earth, including ones that are extinct. But first you should read The Penitent Warrior and give me time to finish it. Smashwords.com
