Heretic. November 10, 2024
I did not hate the new movie, Heretic, but I am not likely to see it again. It has an interesting premise, especially with the way churches are now. They talk about how every religion is just a form of control, which is not true. Hugh Grant's character compared the world's religions to board games and fast food, to get his point across, which I do not agree with. I am a man of faith, and I believe God is great, and forgives everything, and I tolerate all the world's other major religion. I am on hiatus from my Bible study group because they talk negatively about people that I am pretty tolerate and they all voted for the presidential candidate I did not vote for. I will return after the holidays, and not when asked, I will say it was personal and can't talk about. In the thirteen years I attended the group, I had to keep a lot of personal thoughts to myself, but that doesn't mean I don't write about them in my books. If the president re-elect does the terrible things he says he is going to do, maybe they will finally see the light, and if he is our second president to serve two-nonconsecutive terms, maybe he will be our second to resign, and if we are lucky our first to be removed from office. That might have been why he won the popular vote, so that his reign of terror would end before it worsens, and he will show what he really is to the cult he established. I pray that someday Christians will realize the world is not full of enemies that need to be destroyed, but neighbors that need to be loved, and the government is not a place for God's wrath but a showing of His mercy and generosity. It goes with what Tolkien wrote about, being a man who neither rejected nor embraced the 20th century, but hoped to transform the modern with medieval values, which is the same as me, because nostalgia also plays a big part in The Covert Militia Campaigns. It is a fool's hope, as Gandalf would say, but non the less, a noble one, and if you are interested in reading it, click on the link. Smashword.com.
