Fantastic Four: First Steps July 28, 2025

While not exactly "Fantastic" First Steps was finally a decent Fantastic Four movie. In this they actually fight crime, instead of sitting around being idiots. When they caused things to go wrong it was for an understandable and relatable reason. The multiple universe aspect was fun, and I liked the 1960s aspect to the world the Fantastic Four lived in, showing homage to '60s comics and sci-fi. I look forward to seeing how they connect with the rest of the Marvel Universe, and what they will do in Avengers: Doomsday. Superman July 14, 2025

When I went into the new Superman movie, I expected it to just be a typical modern superhero movie. Instead, it has a quiet call out to the troubles in the modern world, with border issues, billionaires' greed, and simple acts of generosity. It shows that as bad as things get there are still good people, eager to do the right thing, similar to what Tolkien wrote about, and what I write about. Another theme in the movie, is atonement, which is what I often write about. It was not like Superman was made about losing his parents and taking his rage out on criminals, and though it had a sense of humor, it was serious when it had to be, and every major role serves the plot. I also give it credit for having a dog actor actually play Krypto and not have him be CGI.  In short, the new Superman movie, is probably the best one since Superman II, and if you are interested in reading my books, which carry similar themes, and the work of many independent authors, click on the link. ...

Megan 2.0 and Jurassic World: Rebirth July 8, 2025

Sorry, I had not blogged in a while, I've been on vacation, but now I can get back to work. That said, I saw Megan 2.0 the night before I left for vacation, which like the first one I thought was OK. It was where the title character atoned for the bad things she did in the first one, and the girl she was protecting started protecting herself. It was similar to Terminator 2 in that vein, where Arnold was now the hero protecting John Conner from the T-1000.  In Jurassic World: Rebirth the parts with the dinosaurs were fun, especially the raft chase, which was based on a scene in Michael Crichton's original novel. The dinosaurs did look good, almost as good as in the original, but it got bewildering with the mutant hybrids. There was a nice Easter Egg, when it showed a bus that said, Crichton Middle School. In summary if they stuck to parts from the books that weren't used, or if the just stopped altogether, I would be fine.  That's all I got for now, and if you are inter...
