The good and bad that inspire your stories. April 11, 2023

I don't have a movie or show to write about right now, so I will talk about things that inspired my writing. It always amazed me how the worst, most hurtful things that happened to you, inspire you to write books. Then again, if they don't happen, you will not have material for books, so you should remember things that happened in your life the good and the bad. 

I can't count the annoying experiences I had in school, growing up with Asperger syndrome, when nobody knew what it was. Despite having, a fair share of friends, I was still bullied, and my teachers often had a casual attitude towards it. They always told me just to ignore it, which was not bad advice, but they should have done something about the people tormenting me. My friends seldom stood up for me, and my former counsellor said it was because they feared getting picked on, too. I had several friends, who would only do certain things when I was present, or only pull particular jokes on me. They had no idea, I didn't want to be treated different or special, just treated like a regular person, but I didn't know what regular people were like. My lifelong best friend, liked to joke about stealing things I cherished, and a few times, joked about murdering me. That last part would be funny on South Park, but not in real life. My pure nature, made it almost impossible to laugh at that kind of joke, but I got better about not showing it, and he doesn't do that anymore.

All the same, that made me who I am now, and I forgive those who antagonized me. If you want to see what I did with it, you know what to do.

  I have already written my own personal review of my latest novel, The Primal Realm, but this is a short blog about what the parallel world the title refers to is like. It is a primitive world where every animal that ever existed on Earth thrives. The land they see is partly desert and rainforest, which is why the people who live there call it the Desert Jungle. That includes extinct ones, such as dinosaurs. There also nomadic hunter tribes, similar to the Native Americans of the Great Plains and the Southwest, and a bit of the Inca, the Maya, and the Aztecs.  They mostly travel on horseback, but often employ dinosaurs and other large animals to assists them in agriculture and war. As a means of avoiding the Covert Militia going into White Savior territory, there are also feudal kingdoms. The first one they journey to is called Eoforham and its principal city is called Edmont. How Westerns influenced me. August 13, 2024

 Westerns are my dad's favorite kind of movie, and thus I grew up watching a lot of them. They had more of a grip on my brother, because when we were kids, he always wanted to play adventure games that took place in the western United States between the years 1865 to 1895. Though I liked Westerns, I more often wanted to play games that took place in the present, so I could use vehicles, and he we always argued about it. I tried compromising but he never agreed about anything. I already wrote a little about it, and though that also gave me inspiration for books, I will talk about how the Western genre inspired me.  Westerns are a good genre for visual storytelling and for contrasting characters, and for making the setting be practically a character. They can help you get to know the characters as the story progresses, and have characters discover humanity as they go. A lot of Westerns have music that befits what is happening and songs that often contrast or match the situation....
