Thoughts on the Mission: Impossible film series. July 10, 2023

As everyone has pointed out, the Mission: Impossible movies, have gotten a reputation for being good, despite getting off to an awkward start. I did not watch the original TV series, but when I saw the trailers for the movies, I was somewhat familiar with it, having heard the theme music before. While the first one confused people and made one of the show's heroes a traitor. The second one, was thrilling when it first came out, but is now dated in terms of story but the action scenes are still entertaining. The third one underused a good villain, making it forgettable. But starting with the fourth one, they started to have gripping stories, likable characters, and unique action sequences. The only thing I feel weird about is there is something about Tom Cruise that creeps me out. He has been in entertaining movies and can be a good actor when he doesn't play himself and that is all I will say. The thing I like about him though is the name of his character is Ethan Hunt, and I just felt honored upon hearing that, because when I was growing up or where I grew up, that was a rare name. I was picked on school because I felt unique having a name no one else had, and people tried making me adapt nicknames I was not crazy about. I told people if it was too long, they could just call me E, and that never worked. Even so, the way the movies got good reminds me of how my writing got better since I got the idea to write in middle school.
