If Disney starts making R-rated movies. November 27, 2023

 Usually when Disney is not making money, they try something different. They once said they would only make G-rated movies, and then started making PG movies, and then said they would not go past PG-13. Deadpool is now the only Marvel Cinematic Universe movie scheduled for 2024 and will be their first R-rated film. If Disney or any studio they own starts making R-rated movies earn it, don't just be PG-13 movies with more blood and gore, more intimate love scenes, and say the F-word more than once. It bewilders me the way a lot of movies today, barely warrant their rating. It is mainly animated movies that get a PG rating just by telling one dirty joke or saying something rude once. If it is going to be that way, they may as well leave it out and be G, which we now see as often as NC-17 ratings. 

I remember seeing movies that were rated PG for mild language when I was a kid. What they mean by that is they swear one time in the whole movie. If that is how they are going to earn the rating they may as well not cuss at all and go with a G. The one thing I think they need to stop doing in PG-13 movies, is stop using the F-word once, because if you can only say that word once, you may as well not say it at all. I still don't understand why the first Matrix movie is rated-R, they only shoot about a hundred cops, that were not technically alive, there are no nude or sex scenes, and they say everything but the F-word. 

That said, the books I am writing, The Covert Militia Campaigns, are written to have a PG-13 rating if they are adapted to movies, at least for now. That is, original PG-13, where they get away with as much as they can without being R. That might change depending on how dark the story is. What The Primal Realm is like. April 9, 2024

  I have already written my own personal review of my latest novel, The Primal Realm, but this is a short blog about what the parallel world the title refers to is like. It is a primitive world where every animal that ever existed on Earth thrives. The land they see is partly desert and rainforest, which is why the people who live there call it the Desert Jungle. That includes extinct ones, such as dinosaurs. There also nomadic hunter tribes, similar to the Native Americans of the Great Plains and the Southwest, and a bit of the Inca, the Maya, and the Aztecs.  They mostly travel on horseback, but often employ dinosaurs and other large animals to assists them in agriculture and war. How Westerns influenced me. August 13, 2024

 Westerns are my dad's favorite kind of movie, and thus I grew up watching a lot of them. They had more of a grip on my brother, because when we were kids, he always wanted to play adventure games that took place in the western United States between the years 1865 to 1895. Though I liked Westerns, I more often wanted to play games that took place in the present, so I could use vehicles, and he we always argued about it. I tried compromising but he never agreed about anything. I already wrote a little about it, and though that also gave me inspiration for books, I will talk about how the Western genre inspired me.  Westerns are a good genre for visual storytelling and for contrasting characters, and for making the setting be practically a character. They can help you get to know the characters as the story progresses, and have characters discover humanity as they go.
