The Bikeriders June 24, 2024

Riding bicycles may be my favorite past time, but I have a lot of respect for those that ride motorcycles. The new movie, The Bikeriders, was a fantastic example of what life was like in a motorcycle gang in the mid 1960s, and what it was like for those who raise families. It also shows what things are like after a member of the gang can't ride anymore, and if the gang breaks up, and gets in fights with rivals. Bad Boys: Ride or Die June 11, 2024

All the Bad Boys movies have fun action scenes and some good comedy, and Ride or Die was no exception. While from a distance all most people can see is the action and the humor, a lot of it is relatable such as the way Martin Lawrence's character was recovering from a heart attack, and still wanted to enjoy food. I struggled with eating healthy and still enjoying food for years, and once I started going to the weight loss center that closed down last year, I finally found equilibrium. It was also funny the way they acknowledged how Lawrence looks his age, but Will Smith looks the same as he did when he starred in the Fresh Prince of Bell Air. The comparison I make to my literary work is the way Smith and Lawrence's characters have been friends their whole lives, similar to Jack Stamper and Brad Marsh in The Covert Militia Campaigns, and if you are interested in reading about their adventures, click on the link to find not only my work, but the work of many other independent aut...

Hollywood's trouble June 3, 2024

All year I have been hearing journalist gripe about Hollywood's lack of originality. In a lot of ways, they are right, with sequels to movies thirty or forty years old coming out. I do not think that is a terrible idea, I just think it might have been better if they made them earlier while they were still in the public zeitgeist. Even so, we have seen some movies that were not sequels and spinoffs that were entertaining, and some based on existing material that worked, such as Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes., and Furiosa: The Mad Max Saga was a lot of fun, even if it was identical to the other Mad Max movies. That said, as a novelist, I read a lot of books, that have not been adapted to movies, and I think that is where filmmakers should look for ideas. It might take the audience a little time to read the books while they are in production, and even less after the trailers are in theaters, but it can benefit two types of people with finances, the authors and the movie industry...
