Beetlejuice Beetlejuice September 9, 2024

I know the classic original Beetlejuice is nostalgia for a lot of people, but for me seeing it once was enough, and I did not watch the cartoon series much. I always found the first one just OK, and I feel that way about the sequel. There were a few moments when I laughed pretty hard, and I liked the character Willem Defoe played. It was interesting seeing a little of Beetlejuice's backstory. On the other hand, I think it probably would have been better if it was made in 1991, while the cartoon series was still on the air. Making sequels after ten years, just feels like a cash grab and fan service, but that does not mean it automatically makes the movie bad. It takes real effort to make a movie good, and sometimes it does work. Even so, I did not hate that movie, the same way I did not hate the first one.
