Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim December 16, 2024

I have said in many of my blogs that, I do not think any Lord of the Rings movie will ever beat Peter Jackon's trilogy that was released between 2001 and 2003, but I am sure there will be good movies and shows based on Tolkien's legendarium. Because it was my main source of inspiration, I appreciate anything based on Tolkien's saga, even if it is not great. I liked The Hobbit trilogy almost as much as The Lord of the Rings trilogy, for the parts that were respectful to the source material (I think the issue was they did not give Pete enough time to develop the effects) and it is also hard for me to hate the animated TV movies by Rankin/ Bass. Now with that out of the way, I thought War of the Rohirrim was a fun return to Middle-Earth. It made up for my only disappointment about the Battle of Helm's Deep in the movies, which was the Wildmen of Dunland Falls were not there, just Uruk-hai. The animation equaled what was shown in Ralph Bakshi's unfinished movie from 1978, and the action was fantastic. Brian Cox did a great job voicing Helm Hammerhand, and the addition of Hera, his daughter was entertaining. There were not many surprises, but that should be expected, and if you are fan of that series, you will enjoy it.
