Megan 2.0 and Jurassic World: Rebirth July 8, 2025

Image
Sorry, I had not blogged in a while, I've been on vacation, but now I can get back to work. That said, I saw Megan 2.0 the night before I left for vacation, which like the first one I thought was OK. It was where the title character atoned for the bad things she did in the first one, and the girl she was protecting started protecting herself. It was similar to Terminator 2 in that vein, where Arnold was now the hero protecting John Conner from the T-1000.  In Jurassic World: Rebirth the parts with the dinosaurs were fun, especially the raft chase, which was based on a scene in Michael Crichton's original novel. The dinosaurs did look good, almost as good as in the original, but it got bewildering with the mutant hybrids. There was a nice Easter Egg, when it showed a bus that said, Crichton Middle School. In summary if they stuck to parts from the books that weren't used, or if the just stopped altogether, I would be fine.  That's all I got for now, and if you are inter...

28 Years Later June 23, 2025

Image
I do not remember much about the 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later, but I had a good time going to see the 28 Years Later, because I always have a good time at the movie theater, no matter what. I see where it would scare some people, but I rarely get scared at movies, if anything things they don't show that scares me. It got better once the main kid took his mother to the mainland to find a doctor to cure her cancer, and it was touching when they learned there was nothing to do about it, and what they did with the baby they adopted. There was a lot of blood and gore in it, and I know if you can't stomach that, I would not recommend it, but if you do you will not be disappointed.  If you are interested in action thrillers with natural and supernatural elements in them, you can read my books, which are available at Smashwords.com, with the work of many independent authors. Ballerina: From the World of John Wick June 9, 2025

Image
I have fun whenever I go to see the John Wick movies, and their spinoff about the Ballerina played by Ana De Armas was also fun, especially near the end when John showed up to assist her. The action was the same as in the others, and the acting was fine, being a movie that does not require a lot of acting. I would like to see the Ballerina and John Wick work together in the fifth official movie, but I will wait and see. If you are interested in reading books where you can find that sort of action, you can click on the link.  Smashwords.com

Mission: Impossible: Final Reckoning May 27, 2025

Image
I always have fun whenever I go see one of the Mission: Impossible movies, and if I'm staying in a hotel and one of them is on TV, I'll watch it, and I enjoyed Final Reckoning. I never watched the original TV series, but I have a feeling now that Tom Cruise is done with the series, they will make another series, starring the guy who was revealed to be the traitor in the first movie's son, who was the protagonist of the original series. My cousin asked if she should watch the others before seeing the last one, and I said it would probably not be necessary. I can't say which one of them is my favorite, but like I said, I have a good time whenever I see them. The only issue is, though Cruise is not a terrible actor and has been in good movies, there is something about him that always creeped me out, and I will stop there.  That said, if you are interested in a series of books based on a team much like the one in the Mission: Impossible series, you can click on the link to...

Aragorn as President May 19, 2025

Image
Near the end of May, I always watch Lord of the Rings, in honor of the Tennessee Renaissance Festival, and after two months watching movies associated with summer and beaches, I go back to watching it each month in August, close to my birthday. I have said this several times on Facebook, and I do not remember writing a blog about this, but this is something I feel like I should say now. I will say nothing about the current presidential administration but will provide advice about the next election. In 2028, both the Democrats and the Republicans need to nominate candidates who lead like Aragorn. I am not saying that because he is my favorite character in my favorite book and movie, and my favorite fictional character period, but because out of all leaders, he earned his authority. What I mean by that is quite simple, he shows authority without cruelty, he supports and encourages people, and despite his power and birthright, he displays humility.  I write about many characters...

Thunderbolts* May 5, 2025

Image
I had a feeling that eventually the Marvel Cinematic Universe would get back on track and with Thunderbolts*, I'd say they are. It had fun action scenes, and the humor was back, with well acting. There was a lot of political commentary which is relevant now, but I will not get into my stance on politics. The only thing that annoyed me a little was some of the toilet humor, which was thankfully kept to a minimum. To me, it's always fun just to go to movies, which is why I had a feeling that things would get back together with the Marvel Universe. Some say it is the best movie in that universe since Avengers: Endgame, I say since Black Widow. I look forward to seeing how they connect with the upcoming Fantastic Four: First Steps, and the next Avengers movies. If you would like to read my books, which have the same level of action as the Marvel movies and the work of many other independent authors, click on the link to Smaswhords.com.  Smashwords

Sunrise on the Reaping

Image
Suzanne Collins latest prequel to The Hunger Games centered on Haymitch Abernathy, and how he won the Second Quarter Quell, and what led to his alcoholic depression. He started off well meaning, only wanting to support his family, especially his brother, Sid, and only wound up in the Games because a kid that was reaped during the games was killed trying to escape. Because there were twice as many Tributes that year, Haymitch feared he would have to kill his allies, and instead tried to defy the Capital, which Coriolanus Snow monitored, and punished after the Games ended. Because he was the only living Victor from District 12, Snow did whatever he could to make Haymitch depressed, and fear there was nothing he could do when he mentored the Tributes from his District. It explains his connection with Katniss Everdeen, having been friends with her father, Burdock Everdeen, and his connection with Plutarch Heavensbee, and how with Katniss and Peeta's victory in the first novel, they sta...
