Influence of the movie Willow. March 21, 2023

I have not streamed the Disney Plus series, based on the 1988 underrated classic, Willow, but I will eventually. I heard a lot of people didn't like it, but I have liked movies and shows a lot of others dismissed. I am curious about how they will depict my favorite character in the movie, Madmartigan, with Val Kilmer's declining health. I will now talk about the influence it had on me. 

The secondary villain, in the movie, General Kael, gave me an idea for a secret society of knights. They are called the Black Skulls, because they attach human skulls, painted black, to their helmets. The leader of the society's name will be a homage to the actor who played the character in Willow, the late Pat Roach. Like Kael he will ride a great black horse, with horns on his chanfron, wield a cool looking laser sword. I already introduced the mini men, the Seredy brothers, Max and Fritz in my last book. Scientists who developed serum that makes people small. They are now stuck that size like the brownies in Willow. I am getting close to introducing the Black Skull Knights in my current book, The Primal Realm. What The Primal Realm is like. April 9, 2024

  I have already written my own personal review of my latest novel, The Primal Realm, but this is a short blog about what the parallel world the title refers to is like. It is a primitive world where every animal that ever existed on Earth thrives. The land they see is partly desert and rainforest, which is why the people who live there call it the Desert Jungle. That includes extinct ones, such as dinosaurs. There also nomadic hunter tribes, similar to the Native Americans of the Great Plains and the Southwest, and a bit of the Inca, the Maya, and the Aztecs.  They mostly travel on horseback, but often employ dinosaurs and other large animals to assists them in agriculture and war. How Westerns influenced me. August 13, 2024

 Westerns are my dad's favorite kind of movie, and thus I grew up watching a lot of them. They had more of a grip on my brother, because when we were kids, he always wanted to play adventure games that took place in the western United States between the years 1865 to 1895. Though I liked Westerns, I more often wanted to play games that took place in the present, so I could use vehicles, and he we always argued about it. I tried compromising but he never agreed about anything. I already wrote a little about it, and though that also gave me inspiration for books, I will talk about how the Western genre inspired me.  Westerns are a good genre for visual storytelling and for contrasting characters, and for making the setting be practically a character. They can help you get to know the characters as the story progresses, and have characters discover humanity as they go. A lot of Westerns have music that befits what is happening and songs that often contrast or match the situation....
