Furiosa: Mad Max Saga May 27, 2024

What a lot of people enjoyed about Mad Max: Fury Road was the way they kept dialogue to a minimum and went straight to the action sequences. George Miiller knew that was what the audience was eager to see, and he did the same in Furiosa, its prequal. It told the story about how the girl that became known as Furiosa was a slave to Chris Hemsworth's character, escaped and sought revenge, and that was the only story it needed. The action scenes were awesome, such as the chase on the tanker truck, and when they invaded the citadel, and there were some really cool sets. It was funny when Hemsworth's character tried getting a peasant to understand what he was talking about. I would highly recommend it.  Though the stories I write, have more dialogue I try to keep it minimal in the action sequences, and if you would like to read them click on the link.  Smashword.com

IF May 20, 2024

I told my mom the plot to the new movie, IF, and she said it sounded very sweet, and she was right. It has a compelling story about imaginary friends looking for new kids to hang with, and is very touching, when it talks about growing up and not forgetting the carefree innocence of childhood. It was one of the few movies these days that earns its PG rating for language by swearing more than once. What I mean by that is if you are only going to swear once to get a PG rating you may as well not swear at all and go with a G, which is what this movie does not do. It had a very creative premise, and it was used beautifully. If you are interested in reading anything I write with a similar premise, but more for adults that kids can enjoy you can read both novels that comprise my book series, The Covert Militia Campaigns, on the link. Both are half off until June 12.  Smsahwords.com.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, and its connection with the other Ape movies. May 13, 2024

They say Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes took the franchise in a new direction and they were right. Though the plot twist at the end of the 1968 original film could not be beat, it had a good one in regard to humans being involved. The theme of tolerance was very relevant now, and it talks about how if apes did evolve to be intelligent, can they peacefully share the Earth with humans. That is what the sequel hinted at, and the last two Planet of the Apes movies they used inspiration without directly remaking. This one goes back to the original, or so it would seem, and now it looks as if the next one will. Tolerance and compromise are themes in my books two, and if you are interested in reading them, click on the link.   Smashwords.com

The Fall Guy May 6, 2024

As a novelist trying to find people interested in my work, I relate to people in the movie industry working on their passion projects. It is often like the people that work in movies that don't get the attention they deserve, and The Fall Guy was a good example about that. It tells the story where Ryan Gosling plays a stuntman who has a crush on an aspiring director, played by Emily Blunt, who is finally working on her passion project, a sci-fi romance Western film. The main star goes missing and they are trying to make it look like the stuntman Gosling played killed him. One thing that caught my attention was that it never occurred to me there are no Oscars or any major awards for stunt people, and I am actually surprised that is so. There should be, because stunt people have the most dangerous job in the movie industry, and go through the most grueling training for it, so they should. That said, if you are interested in my passion project, and those of many independent authors, ...
