Deadpool & Wolverine July 29, 2024

I think Deadpool & Wolverine just saved the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It had the right action and comedy that was needed to make people interested in seeing more movies like that in their universe. It was weird seeing an R-rated Marvel movie and an R-rated Disney movie, but it earned that rating. There were several funny jokes about Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine until he's ninety. The scene with the multiple Deadpools was funny, and it was all in all a good time.  The only things I need to address, and this is not a criticism of the movie, but don't make every MCU movie Rated-R from now on, only the ones that are from R-rated source material. I'm only saying that because I remember when I was in high school and everything that I was interested in seeing was Rated-R, and some I could not see why, and I had to implore my parents to go see them with me. Kids under seventeen like going to movies to, so just try having some variety for all ages, is all I'm saying. The...

Twisters July 22, 2024

Image
I was not a huge fan of the original Twister, but I enjoyed it when I saw it in the theater, and if I was staying in a hotel and it was on TV I would watch it. I will say the same about its sequel, which took almost thirty years to develop, and features no characters or even references to the last one. That does not mean it was terrible, because the parts where they were storm chasing were fun to watch. A lot of what happened was as you would expect, and similar to the original. The person that cared more about money and TV ratings was left behind, and they started working on protecting people from the disaster of tornadoes.  The only thing left, and I am not saying it was a bad movie because of that, is Hollywood should start adapting more original stories, or stories based off of books that have not been made into movies yet. I know a lot of people now like to see something they are familiar with, but there are many of them interested in variety. That said, I will write about tha...

Fly Me to the Moon. July 15, 2024

Image
Fly Me to the Moon, was quite an entertaining romantic comedy. It may not earn any Oscars, but it was a fun time in the theater, and the chemistry between Channing Tatum and Scarlett Johanson was very good. It was most entertaining when they were trying to stage the moon landing and a lot of it you can pick up as you go.  Romance is not something I specialize in as an author, but I have a sense of humor and use the interaction between married couples I know to make it work in my books. Politics in my novels. July 8, 2024

With a U.S, Presidential Election coming this November, I will talk briefly about the politicians in The Covert Militia Campaigns. All of them are fictional characters, and I never mention whether they are Democrats or Republicans. That way, it can appeal to readers who support both parties, and it goes with my hope that one day, they will put aside their different ideals and work together in support of what they have in common. I do not see things as black and white or in this case blue and red, but right and wrong, and while I am not trying to incite arguments, but convicted criminals who instigated riots in the capital and did nothing to stop a pandemic, should not serve two nonconsecutive terms. That does not mean I am crazy about a stuttering old man who is not prepared for a debate, but he is not acting as a tyrant, who keeps destitute people from neighboring countries from finding a prosperous life away from drug cartels. I need to remind you almost a hundred years ago in ...

Horizon: An American Sag: Chapter 1. July 1, 2024

Image
I have always liked Western movies, due to a family legacy because if there is anyone in my family who loves Westerns more than I do it is my dad and my brother. Despite that, that is a genre that has in many ways inspired my writing, but I am getting off track. I opened with that statement because the first part of Kevin Costner's epic Western saga, Horizon, was a thrilling start. It shows how in the late 1800s Americans moving west did not want to fight with indigenous people and just live their lives the same as they did. There were some Natives who thought settlers were taking their homes and refused to compromise, and because of their raids, they thought they were trying to keep them from prospering. There were people on both sides, who did not want war, the same as the people that exceeded the conflict. It shows the political arguing going on today is nothing new, it has happened since the Roman Empire, and what none of those people can realize is conflicts can be avoided not...
